About Indian Navy:

The Indian Navy is a well-balanced and cohesive three-dimensional force capable of operating above, on, and beneath the ocean’s surface, effectively protecting our national interests.

From the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Navy), the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) exerts operational and administrative responsibility over the Indian Navy. The Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) and three additional Principal Staff Officers, namely the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (DCNS), the Chief of Personnel (COP), and the Chief of Material (COM), support him.

The Western and Eastern Naval Commands are ‘Operational Commands’ in charge of operations in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, respectively. The Southern Command is in charge of training.
